Louis Malassis Prize 2015

Claire Lanaud has been awarded the 2015 Louis Malassis Prize which rewards her scientific involvement in the study of tropical crops working for development in Southern countries.

Claire Lanaud and her team were among the pioneers to develop molecular tools dedicated to tropical crop studies, and more particularly Theobroma cacao. With her team and the backing of a large partnership from the North and the South, she has greatly contributed to knowledge on the genetic bases of important traits for cocoa breeding, such as disease resistance. She also led an international effort to sequence the whole cocoa genome published online at the end of 2010.
