First edition in Africa of the international conference on drought adaptation Interdrought

For its seventh edition, Interdrought calls for interdisciplinary approaches to meet the challenges of sustainable improvement of agricultural cropping systems in arid and semi-arid zones

The organizers of the seventh edition of Interdrought, a conference historically focused on plant physiology and improvement (Vincent Vadez, IRD; Delphine Luquet and Daniel Fonceka, CIRAD; Ndjido Kane, ISRA/Ceraas) chose to take a cross-cutting look at the issue of adaptation to drought, with particular attention paid to the contexts of small-scale producers, especially in Africa.
CIRAD had a strong presence, not only through the co-organization of this conference but also through the contributions to the oral and poster presentations by researchers and their students, particularly from Africa, and the participation of two researchers (François Affholder, UR AIDA; Daniel Fonceka UMR AGAP Insitute) in the final round table, which brought together five panellists to discuss their respective views on the directions to be taken by research on drought adaptation and its interdisciplinary issues.

The next IDVIII edition has been announced (IDVIII: présentation).

It will be held in Chile in 2025, in a spirit of interdisciplinary openness similar to IDVII. We count on your presence!
