Job offer: Cocoa breeder Guyana
CIRAD is recruiting a cocoa geneticist/breeder in an agroforestry context, based in French Guiana. You will be part of the "Genome and selection of perennials" (GSP) team of the UMR AGAP Institut "Amélioration Génétique et adaptation des plantes méditerranées et tropicales".
The GSP team has world-renowned expertise in the characterization of genetic resources, the development of genomic tools and the analysis of the genetic determinism of traits of agronomic interest in cocoa.
In this position, you will be part of an innovative project to characterize and mobilize the genetic diversity of cocoa trees managed by CIRAD's CRB-PPG Biological Resources Centre in French Guiana, with the aim of developing productive and sustainable agroforestry cropping systems (FAS).
Your research will aim to identify traits of interest for the adaptation of cocoa trees to SAF conditions, improve understanding of the genetic determinism of these traits, and develop innovative methods for the genetic improvement of cocoa trees for these conditions.
