The unit conducts research on the analysis and development of agro-biodiversity (at scales ranging from the genome to the population) in a context of varietal improvement and adaptation of cultivated plants to environmental constraints. It has more than 300 employees grouped into 13 research teams, 10 technical platforms and 3 biological resource centers.
In recent years, many research projects requiring the use of genome editing technologies (such as CRISPR/Cas9) have been initiated or are being designed in the AGAP unit. The AFEG/InCell platform, which provides the plant science community with the environment and tools to conduct this type of study, offers various forms of support for these projects, ranging from simple advice to effective involvement in certain research projects, as well as a range of theoretical and/or practical training opportunities.
