Job: Postdoctoral position on plant molecular biology

A 10-months post-doctoral position funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) is available starting September 2023 to work on a project entitled: “Analysis of a gene regulatory network underlying trait divergence between annual and perennial plants”.

The project is being developed at the AFEF team of the AGAP institute in Montpellier (France) in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research and the University of Cologne in Germany. The recruited postdoc will contribute to decipher gene regulatory networks controlling floral transition in apple tree. The successful candidate is expected to study the temporal patterns of expression of miRNAs and their target genes in meristems of apple tree using small RNA-seq and miRNA/RNA in situ hybridization, and to identify the target genes of candidate transcription factors using the GR-system and DNA affinity purification sequencing (DAP-seq). For more information, please check doi: 10.1111/nph.17710.

The AGAP Institute and collaborators gather excellent infrastructures and state-of-the-art technological facilities. Moreover, Montpellier is a young an exciting city, where the sun shines more than 300 days per year and the beach is just 10 min away by car from the city centre (45 min by bicycle).

Appointment:

  • The position is available from September 2023.
  • The employment will be for 10 months.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D.  degree in plant genetics, plant molecular biology or related plant science fields.
  • Experience with protein and gene expression analyses, RNA in situ hybridization and molecular cloning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Great motivation and creativity.
