UMR Agap Institut is recruiting a molecular geneticist researcher in plant breeding and improvement

Komivi Dossa will study the genetic architecture of key traits in yam by considering the impact of polyploidy

Komivi Dossa graduated from the University of ‘Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences’ in 2017. His PhD study focused on the identification of the genetic basis of drought stress tolerance related traits in sesame. Later, he carried out a post-doctoral research, studying genes controlling root biomass and tolerance to abiotic stresses. His work combines quantitative genetics, genomics and bioinformatics.

Since March 1st, 2021, Komivi has joined the yam genetic improvement team (Déterminisme, Expression et Fonctionnement des traits d’intérêt chez l’Igname: DEFI) of the UMR Agap Institute at Cirad, as a researcher in molecular breeding and crop improvement. He will study the genetic architecture of key traits in yam by considering the impact of polyploidy. His work will combine theory, simulations, phenotypic and genomic data in order to develop new multi-criteria prediction and selection approaches. He will also generate various Omics data to be harnessed for yam improvement.
