Job: Assistant Engineer in Bioinformatics

A 6-months Assistant Engineer (AI) position funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) is available starting September 2023 to work on a project entitled: “Analysis of a gene regulatory network underlying trait divergence between annual and perennial plants”.

The project is being developed at the AFEF team of the AGAP institute in Montpellier (France). The recruited AI will contribute to decipher gene regulatory networks controlling floral transition in apple tree. The successful candidate is expected to analyze different types of NGS data, such as mRNA-seq, miRNA-seq and DAP-seq.

Appointment:

  • The position is available from September 2023.
  • The employment will be for 6 months. 

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree (M2) in Bioinformatics.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Good level in a scripting language (e.g. bash, python) and R as well as data analysis techniques and statistics.
  • Experience with workflow management system (Snakemake or Nextflow).
  • Previous experience working with NGS datasets, especially on DAP-seq data.
  • Ability to work in a team with both computational and experimental biologists.
