4th training meeting on research in genetics, physiology and agronomy at the oil palm (Benign)

The Agricultural Research Centre on Perennial Plants (Crapp, Benin) plays an important role in research on oil palm and in the production of improved seeds. To attract students to oil the palm research and raise awareness of the roles of Crapp, an annual training was established in 2008 and its fourth session held in April 2012.

This training is provided to final year students "Plant Production" of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Abomey-Calavi (Benin). It lasted 4.5 days and was conducted at Crapp, allowing students to gain broad access to the field, in addition to academic courses. This training covered mainly the genetic improvement of oil palm but also addressed physiology, agronomy and the resistance to diseases and pests. Teaching was shared between David Cros (GFP Team) for genetic improvement and researchers and engineers of Crapp for other aspects.
