Quality

Last update: 2 June 2021

For several years now, the UMR Agap Institut has been working to constantly improve the working environment for its staff, trainees and PhD students.

At present, a quality management system based on the ISO 9001 standard is being deployed in a large number of scientific teams, platforms and administrative support teams, at various stages of development. In the long term, this quality management system will enable us to better satisfy the requirements of our customers and partners, ensure the reliability and traceability of results (management of protocols, use of laboratory notebooks, verification and calibration of sensitive equipment via metrology), and provide accessible and reliable document management, provide better visibility of our activities and services, both internally and externally, challenge our practices by improving and simplifying them to make them more suited to our way of working, enable staff from different institutes to work to the same rules, improve internal communication, encourage the maintenance and acquisition of skills...
In the long term, once this quality management system has been extended to the whole of Agap Institut, each scientific team, platform and administrative support team will be fully integrated within the UMR, involving optimum pooling of staff skills and resources.

The biological resource centers (BRCs) of UMR Agap Institute's role is to acquire, conserve, validate, disseminate and multiply multiply collections of biological samples (cultivated plants cultivated plants, model plants, domestic and wild animal relatives, micro-organisms, forests), which are essential to the many research.Their operation is based on international standards (NF S96-900 and ISO 9001) requiring compliance with requirements of the parties involved, national and international regulations regulations and property rights. As a result, 2 of them have obtained obtained certification, proof of their mastery of complex know-how know-how and an efficient, continuously-improving organization.

The new CRB GAMéT Montpellier, which merges CIRAD's CRB Tropicales (certified NF S96-900 from 2011 to 2020) with INRAE's CRBs ZEA and Medicago, will be IBiSA-certified in 2021 (ISO 9001 certification planned for 2023). This BRC manages seeds for rice, sorghum, fonio, cotton, cowpea, groundnut, corn and forest resources (https://umr-agap.cirad.fr/en/l-unite/centres-de-ressources-biologiques/crb-gamet-montpellier/contexte-et-enjeux).
The CRB PPG Guyane is ISO 9001 certified for the management of coffee and cocoa collections. Hevea, rosewood and aquilaria biological resources are also managed in this BRC (https://umr-agap.cirad.fr/en/the-unit/biological-resource-centres/biological-resource-centre-for-perennial-plants-in-french-guiana).
The CRB PT Guadeloupe is certified to NF S96-900 and manages pineapple, banana, sugarcane, mango and yam collections, as well as an internationally referenced herbarium (https://umr-agap.cirad.fr/en/the-unit/biological-resource-centres/biological-resource-centre-for-tropical-plants-in-the-west-indies).
