Agap Institute at the 1st International Citrus Show

The Structure évolutive des agrumes, polyploïdie et amélioration génétique (SEAPAG) team from Corsica and Montpellier helped organize the 1st Salon International de l'Agrume, in Menton on April 5 and 6, 2024.

During the show, which attracted almost 2,000 visitors over two days, several members of the Seapag team from Corsica and Montpellier took part in live interviews, including one on France Inter (on va déguster), BFM TV and France 3 Côte d'Azur, as well as book signings for "Les agrumes du nord de la méditerranée" (2022, éditions Piazzola) ; "Les agrumes" (2017, éditions La Maison) and "Le clémentinier et les petites agrumes" (2012 éditions Quae).
They also hosted a conference on "The history of citrus in the Mediterranean", a stand presenting the CRB Citrus INRAE-Cirad, and round tables with representatives of citrus production in the Mediterranean basin (Menton, Corsica, Italy, Greece, Croatia), who discussed the quality, reputation or other characteristics linked to the protected geographical indications of their production.

A number of celebrities and Michelin-starred chefs were able to discover the diversity of CRB Citrus citrus fruits, including Olivier Polge (Chanel perfumer); Guillaume Gomez (Personal Representative of the French President for Gastronomy and Food); Mark Flanagan (Chef to the King of England) ; Mauro Calogrecco (Mirazur 3*); Jérôme Rigaud (former head of French gastronomy at the Kremlin); Gilles Bruner (Pdt du grand cordon d'or de la gastronomie française); Julien Dugourd (Pastry Chef at "la chèvre d'or", Eze); Christian Garcia (Chef at the Princely Palace of Monaco).
Finally, at the end of the show, future collaborations were discussed between various partners to work on different themes, including a project to characterize the citrus fruits in the collection of the Jardin du Palais Carnolès in Menton, and the setting up of Interreg projects between Corsica, the Côte d'Azur and Italy.
