Participation of the Architecture and flowering of fruit species team (AFEF) at the Plant Biology Europe 2023 congress

The collective was present at the Plant Biology Europe 2023 conference held in Marseille last July. Kwanho Jeong (postdoc), Mohamad Al Bolbol (PhD) and Fernando Andrés (team leader) presented two posters.

Among the many topics to be discussed at the meeting, particular emphasis will be placed on plants and climate change, algal biology and bioenergy.

During the 3.5 days of the congress, AFEF researchers had the opportunity to attend fantastic seminars on development, epigenetics, holobionts and many other topical scientific subjects. They were also able to present their work in poster sessions and discuss their projects with many other international colleagues.

On this occasion, he presented two posters at PBE2023. Firstly, a poster on the control of floral induction in apple (Malus domestica) mediated by small RNAs and the transcriptional factors they regulate post-transcriptionally by Kwanho Jeong. The results presented are part of the DAAP project (ANR-DFG).

On the other hand, Mohamad Al Bolbol presented his thesis work on the role of gibberellins and DELLA proteins in the regulation of floral transition in apple trees. This study is part of the FlowGA project, funded by INRAE's Plant Biology and Improvement Department (BAP) and the Occitanie Region.

These two studies aroused the interest of many conference attendees, who did not hesitate to ask the team's researchers for further information.

The PBE2023 congress was undoubtedly a great opportunity to show the scientific community the work developed by our researchers, and also to interact with a large number of international scientists and discuss possible future collaborations.
