The BRC manages several collections of tropical (rice, sorghum, cotton, groundnut, fonio, etc.) and Mediterranean (maize, medicago, etc.) genetic resources in the form of seed lots. These resources are used in research programs conducted on these species by research teams from French and foreign public organizations. The CRB GAMéT is one of the platforms of the multi-unit platform ARCAD (Agropolis Resource Centre for Crop Conservation, Adaptation and Diversity) within the UMR AGAP Institut. The joint team (CIRAD-INRAE) is composed of 11 permanent staff.
You will contribute to the functioning of the CRB by maintaining the genetic diversity of different species (mainly the maize and medicago collection) and by making them available to the whole scientific and agricultural community (professionals and individuals).
You will support different processes in a quality approach under the ISO 9001 standard implemented within the BRC in view of a certification in 2023.
You will respond to calls for projects related to the management or preservation of cultivated diversity, ensure the traceability of all operations (use of barcodes and data management in a computer system common to all species, coordinate management activities (introduction of new accessions, regeneration and conservation of the collections) and the valorization of the data to improve the visibility of the collections CRB GAMéT via the florilegia portal, will participate in the characterization in the field of the collections for various descriptors by developing descriptors for new traits, will ensure the diffusion of the seeds in agreement with the legislation (MTA, phytosanitary passports. ...), will be integrated in collaborative networks on maize genetic resources at national and European level, will contribute to the communication with researchers and seed companies, to ensure the dissemination of genetic diversity and the adoption of research results and innovations that have resulted.
