Scientific and technical basis for the creation of a high-end "Aquilaria (Agarwood)" essential oil industry, and derived products, in Guyana.

Objectives

To define with the farmers the conditions of installation and culture of Aquilaria: pure plantations with vegetal cover of protection of the soil or in mixture with other species.

  • To provide farmers with the basis for the establishment of a sustainable production chain of Aquilaria leaves.
  • To produce in Guyana oleoresins of a high purity from the most organic growing conditions possible and controlled fungal contamination of the wood.
  • To set up the conditions necessary for an optimal production of essential oils answering the requirements of the future field:

- control of the yields of volatile and non-volatile substances constituting the oleoresin according to established specifications; - conditions of wood harvesting, storage, preparation, distillation., ...
