Objectives

Vinid'Occ will develop world-class fundamental research on grapevines and wine, from the gene to the bottle and to consumers and the environment, in order to improve knowledge and propose combinations of innovations across the entire plant material-production-processing-market-environment chain in order to meet the challenges of reducing the use of phytopharmaceutical products and mitigating the effects of climate change on vine growing.

Description

With a budget of €2 million allocated by the Occitanie region, the Vinid'Occ key challenge aims to

1.            To develop internationally recognised fundamental research of excellence on vines and wine. To achieve this, it will finance 4 emblematic projects of €250K each, a dozen complementary projects of a maximum of €45K and the purchase of phenotyping equipment for a sum of €300K.

2.            To animate the regional vine community, to reinforce the intra-regional structuring and the interactions of the Montpellier and Toulouse teams by setting up research projects involving teams from Montpellier and Toulouse and scientific events

3.            To increase the regional, national and international influence of the Occitanie vine and wine scientific community through high-level scientific publications and the organisation of regional, national and international conferences.

4.            To increase the interaction between fundamental research, development and the regional sector, in order to encourage the effective adoption of innovations by the sector
