Quality & Metrology

Metrology

Last update: 11 May 2021

Since 2002, CIRAD has been deploying a quality and metrology approach to research.

The aim of this approach is to improve the dissemination of research work, guarantee the reliability of results and improve the research process. In this context, many teams of the UMR Agap Institute have deployed quality and metrological processes. The existence of a quality and metrological approach within a laboratory is an important criterion when setting up projects and responding to competitive tenders.

Some Agap Institut platforms have set up a metrological approach on some equipments (Temperature, PCR, Verification of some balances). But also the use of AqTools software for the management of their equipment.

The role of the metrology manager is to enable interested parties to implement this approach.

The aim of metrology is to pool equipment and know-how. This approach allows to homogenize practices in terms of verifications and calibrations of measuring instruments. This sharing of skills also encourages discussions about the initial needs of those requesting measurements, while guaranteeing acceptable and, above all, controlled metrological consistency.

The metrology approach considerably strengthens the confidence and satisfaction of our customers/donors and the international scientific community. Our practices on metrology have also served the southern partner, we have accompanied them and shared the methods developed in the UMR Agap Institute.

For the realization of metrology within the UMR, we have a support of the quality delegation of CIRAD and more particularly on the mutualization of standard equipment and on the calibration.
