Conventional coconut breeding is a lenghty process requiring observing large number of trees for more than 15 years. A collaboration between CIRAD (France), CNRA (Côte d'Ivoire) and CRI-CATAS (China) resulted in the first chromosome scale assembly of the coconut genome. It will contribute to improving coconut breeding accuracy while requiring smaller surfaces and shorter generations.

This work is the result of a collaboration between the UMR AGAP institute Corsica and the MANE company, the first French fragrance and flavor industry, whose headquarter is based in Bar sur Loup. This work combines DNA analysis to elucidate the genetic origin of a little-known citrus fruit (Ichang lemon) and the chemical analysis of aromatic compounds conferring exotic notes with potential interest for industry.

Romain Fernandez, newly recruited in the UMR Agap institute

Romain Fernandez joined the PhenoMEn team (Phenotyping and Plant Modelling in their Agro-climatic Environment) as an image analysis researcher on January 11, 2021. Based in Montpellier, he will collaborate on UMR AGAP projects within PhenoMEn’s Math-Infos group.

Networking agrobiodiversity management to foster biodiversity-based agriculture. A review

Based on a review of the literature, this article proposes a new conceptual framework to study the modalities of access to cultivated diversity by farmers. This framework is based on the formalism of networks, which makes it possible to take into account the different forms of interdependence between heterogeneous actors, whether human or non-human, such as organizations or cultivated plants.

The Agroguayule project (ADEME-GRAINE, 2019-2022) structures activities on guayule between UMRs AGAP (BURST, PHIV, GABA, CRB GamèT et DDSE) and Biowooeb, a rubber-producing plant under adaptation to the Mediterranean climate.
