GenomeHarvest, Project Closing Conference: Tools Harvest Time
17/06/2021
The closing conference of the GenomeHarvest flagship project of Agropolis Fondation will take place on the afternoons of June 23rd and 24th. Looking at crops with a multiple genomic foundation, such as banana, citrus, coffee or rice, we have developed bioinformatics methods and tools that shed new light on the dynamics of genetic diversity. These may be relevant and applicable for many other species

Natural rubber is an important industrial raw material produced commercially by rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis). The sucrose transporter HbSUT3 plays an essential role in rubber production by laticifers in response to the application of ethephon, an ethylene releaser. This Franco-Chinese collaboration identified the ethylene response factors responsible for SUT3 expression and proposed a regulatory model.

Three founding ancestral genomes involved in the origin of sugarcane
19/04/2021
Sugarcane is probably the most complex crop genome, combining high polyploidy, interspecificity and aneuploidy. This paper suggests that three, not two, ancestral genomes are involved in modern cultivars adding an additional level of complexity.
